Hurricane Ida was the second-most damaging and intense hurricane to strike Louisiana on record, causing catastrophic flooding, power outages and damaged infrastructure. This disaster posed a massive challenge and disruption for all residents and businesses in the area, but despite the challenges, we appreciate all the local dealers who found ways to continue serving their local communities.
One such dealer is Troy Duhan, founder of Giving Hope charities and owner of Premier Automotive, who said: “(Hurricane) Ida brought the strongest winds Louisiana has ever seen. The need is huge because so many people have lost their homes. There is still a real urgency, particularly for seniors as so many are stuck. Giving Hope is delivering meals to senior living centers and feeding them the best we can. At this point in my career, the greatest joy I get isn’t when the dealerships call and tell me how many cars they sold–the biggest joy is when the pantries call to tell me how many meals they served.”
To do our part, we reached out to our Louisiana dealer contacts to find a meaningful way to provide support and resources to the hardest hit communities and families – which are often those with the fewest resources at their disposal.
“We often point to dealers as the economic backbone of their communities because of their business impact and strong commitment to giving back in their hometowns,” said Tayisha Beard, senior director of regional sales at Ally and Baton Rouge resident. “We tapped our relationships with Louisiana dealers for their guidance to identify several charities making the biggest difference at the grassroots level.”
As a result of that guidance, the Ally Charitable Foundation is donating $20,000 to the American Red Cross plus $10,000 to each of the following local charities: Bayou Community Foundation, Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux and the Giving Hope Food Pantry of New Orleans.
We’re also donating $10,000 to the NADA Foundation’s Emergency Relief Fund to support auto dealership employees who have been impacted by natural disasters.
